http://demo.phpedu.org.uk launch is approaching fast and we're nearly there. This is a useful exercise not only in demonstrating what can be done with phpEdu but will also show how it can be done for any academic institution.
Building the demo site has had a big role to play in debugging the beta-2 version as it has become a test base for what to expect by the end user. As things become more stable, I'm beginning to feel confident that beta-3 will be the start of an upgradable version i.e. an upgrade path will be provided when upgrading from beta-3 to beta-4.
And the ultimate goal remains a stable version 1.0 before the end of the year. That's one of the reasons why the decision was taken to leave out modules with functionality such as admissions, assignments, exams & records and fees. As these were originally included in the discontinued 5.x branch, as soon as 1.0 goes out the door, work on porting these to Drupal 6 will begin in earnest.
There's loads to be done, but we're nearly there!
