phpEdu Uni

phpEdu University is a university created for development purposes. Also, it's a showcase for phpEdu Learning Management System for Drupal. As educational culture varies widely around the world, we have made some basic assumptions about tertiary institutions which will be outlined here.

Update

Here's another update to the phpedu-dev site. Work's progressing but at a rather slow pace. However, surely and steadily we're getting closer and closer to a release even if it's alpha or beta. At least it'll offer anxious users an opportunity to start playing with the application and plan how to implement it to suit their needs.

Looking good

Work on phpEdu is coming on nicely and things are looking really good. The recent updates include -

  • a tool allowing users with the right permissions to maintain group member lists in a convenient way i.e. view full names, faculty/departments and other basic information before adding them to groups. Log in as macro/test (username/password) and go to Groups to try this tool.
  • Lists of programs, faculty/departments, courses
  • user profiles

Marching on!

Development work on phpEdu has picked up speed and a number of important updates have just been made to the site. The most important are:

  1. CCK and views are now used to create and list most content types.
  2. 3 quiz types (multichoice, gapfilling and matching) are now available.

Plans for phpEdu release

Thanks to those who have made enquiries about phpEdu. First of all, let me say that the project is very much alive although, in hindsight, the decision to suspend the development effort for Drupal 5.x in favour of Drupal 6 wasn't entirely wise. The subsequent delay in the release of CCK, Views and OG has also impacted phpEdu as most nodes are to be created with CCK to leverage the functionality already provided by these excellent modules that are gradually being incorporated into Drupal core.

phpEdu is alive!

Yes, phpEdu is alive indeed! This is to reassure everybody who has either by email or visit to this website has indicated their interest in this application that work is in progress. Regular updates of this site with phpEdu code and blog posts will keep everyone in the picture of what's going on.
